Notice: Pack Meeting Cancelled

Please note that pack meeting for this month on December 23rd has been cancelled due to the holidays.

Wolf Den Meeting: December 16, 2008

Today we read another Christmas story, The Legend of the Candy Cane, and made candy cane ornaments. We also talked about what citizenship means and worked on our Citizenship belt loop. The boys created posters the showed how they can be good citizens. They also wrote down three ways they can help around their home and be a good citizen within their family unit.

We will not be holding pack meeting next week and the Wolf den meeting on December 30th has also been cancelled due to the holiday season. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and will see you next year.

Wolf Den Meeting: December 9, 2008

This week we shared some of our favorite Christmas memories. It was great to hear so many specials times that have been shared by families during this time of year. We read a story called "The Christmas Candle." Afterwards, we make candle ornaments.

December 2008 Theme: Holiday Lights

The Star of Bethlehem, the Miracle of the Lamp, the Morning Star that enlightened Buddha, the bonfires of Yule; many holiday traditions this month involve lights. Share your holiday traditions with others: lights on a Christmas tree; candles on a Menorah for Hanukkah or on a Kinara for Kwanzaa. Scouts can be stars this month by brightening someone's holiday season with a gift of compassion. Help those less fortunate through service.

Wolf Den Meeting: December 2, 2008

Since this is the month we celebrate Christmas, we started off this month's den meetings by talking about different traditions of how we celebrate Christmas. We also talked about some traditions celebrated by different countries. We were able to learn how to say "Merry Christmas" if a few different languages. The scouts also learned how to say "Hello" and count to ten in at least one other language other then English to pass off an elective.

We read one of my favorite stories, "The Three Tree." It is not specifically a Christmas story, but I like to read it around this time of year. After the story, the scouts made tree ornaments to help them remember the meaning of the story.

Wolf Den Meeting: November 18, 2008

This week I had the scouts bring a collection that they had to present. Both Ty and Brinton brought their card collections. Brinton had several different types of cards he collects, but his favorite is his Pokemon card collection. Ty had mainly football cards. Both Ty and Brinton gave excellent presentations of their cards and arranged their 10 favorite cards. The scouts are encouraged to complete requirement 6a at home with their families.

After the collection presentations, we made bean bags and a bean bag toss. The scouts drew out holes for their bean bag toss on cardboard boxes and then filled and stitched up bean bags. They did a great job. The scouts are encouraged to complete requirements 10a and 10b with their new bean bags.

Next week's activity will be pack meeting held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the church. I hope to see everyone and their families there.

Wolf Den Meeting: November 11, 2008

Today the scouts really took to heart November's theme of "Seeds of Kindness." We were able to go around a small neighborhood and collect food items for the Utah Food Bank. They really got into the food drive and wanted to go to "just one more" house. I appreciate their enthusiasm for service and hope that they will continue that attitude throughout their lives.

Next week the scouts have been asked to bring a collection to present and we will also be working on one of our wolf electives.

Wolf Den Meeting: November 4, 2008

Today for scouts we started with our new monthly theme of "Seeds of Kindness." We found leaves and make leaf rubbings for Thank You notes to Arlen Nelson, who came to tell stories at our last pack meeting. The boys did a great job and seemed to have fun with the project. Hopefully this will encourage them to express gratitude to others.

November 2008 Theme: Seeds of Kindness

What a wonderful time of year! The leaves are falling, and winter is just around the corner. With the change in season and the coming holidays, people seem to be a little more thoughtful and concerned about others.

As we approach Thanksgiving, let's spread "Seeds of Kindness" in the form of multiple small service projects. Helping others encourages compassion and gives the scouts the opportunity to see the bounty produced by spreading many small seeds of kindness. The boys can discover that just as the large, strong oak tree came from the small acorn, big things can happen from spreading small seeds of kindness and charity.

Pack Meeting: October 28, 2008

This month's pack meeting we tried to follow our monthly theme of Adventure in Books. Caden Van told us a terrific story that he had written at one of our den meetings. We had a fun presentation of awards in a Whodunit? mystery book for our three Wolf's; Joseph Black, Ryan Lake and Caden Van, who received their wolf recognition awards as well as some arrowhead awards. They will also be advancing to the Bear den within the next month on their birthdays. They will certainly be missed in the Wolf den. Also awarded was Braeden Gooch who received his citizenship award. Congratulations to Joseph, Ryan, Caden and Braeden.

Caden Van, Ryan Lake and Joseph Black

The Webeloes gave a wonderful skit with Peanuts the elephant. What a talented animal, so well behaved, almost.

We also had a great time sitting around a camp fire and listening to ghost stories from Arlen Nelson. I'm pretty sure I saw the cub scouts jump a few times during the stories.

Congratulations as well to Kanon Black who received his arrow if light award. What a special presentation of the award by Pat Graham, dressed as a knight. Have fun Kanon on your new adventures as a scout.

Thank you to everyone who came and to those who participated in a fun pack meeting.

Wolf Den Meeting: October 21, 2008

We completed our book safes this week and they look great. The scouts did a great job throughout the whole project. We will be showing them at our pack meeting next week so everyone can see what we have been up to. Pack meeting should be really fun, there are some great activities planned.

We have had so much fun with this months theme of Adventure in Books, I hope that the scouts will continue to read and expand their imaginations through books. I look forward to next months theme, Seeds of Kindness.

Wolf Den Meeting: October 14, 2008

It is fun to see the kind of things the wolf scouts can come up with. At the beginning of our most recent den meeting, I had the scouts write a short story to go along with our Adventure in Books theme for the month. It was great to see how some of them really got into their stories and the creativity that they have. After we read their stories we quickly got started on our next project.

We are working on a three part project. Last week the scouts made illuminated letters with the first letter of their first names. This week, we made book covers for our book safes and placed the illuminated letters on our covers. Next week, we will complete our project and finish the inside of our book safes.

The scouts seem to be having fun with these projects and it is so great to see the individual creativity in every one.

Wolf Den Meeting: October 7, 2008

This was my first den meeting as the new leader of the wolf den. It was great to meet the boys and to start to get to know them. As a new leader, I wanted to establish some rules. With help from the boys, we created our Code of Conduct. As part of the code, the boys are encouraged to wear their full scout uniforms properly to all den and pack meetings. I feel that this rule is especially important for a sense of unity in our den.

With our new theme for the month, Adventure in Books, the wolves are encouraged to complete elective six in their books. We talked about ideas for a skit from some of their favorite books. We finally decided on the ending war in the fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix. We will practice our skit at next weeks den meeting.

We also completed the first part of our project for the month, an illuminated letter, as is commonly seen in the first letter of a chapter in books. The boys decorated the first letter from their names which we will continue to use in our project for the next few weeks.

We had such a great den meeting. I hope to see everyone next week.

Pack Meeting: September 30, 2008

What a wonderful Pack Meeting we had on Tuesday. Pack meeting started out with a fun skit by the Wolf Den. The boys did a great job on their invisible bench skit.

It was great to be able to have one of our scouts use the pack meeting to fulfill a requirement for his Webelo badge. Kanon Black prepared a cook out for the leaders and families and was presented his Webelo badge. Thank you to all who helped Kanon with his acheivements.
